111 Purple Strawberry is a rare, productive midseason indeterminate tomato selected from the Not Purple Strawberry line. Vigorous regular-leaf vines commonly reach approximately 4.9–5.6 feet tall and perform especially well when grown in a greenhouse or another long-season environment. The plants produce large rounded, flattened, and gently heart-shaped beefsteaks weighing approximately 10.6–14.1 oz, with attractive ribbing across the shoulders. As the fruits ripen, the skin develops a beautiful pink-purple to raspberry-purple color with deeper dusky shading. Inside, the thick, granular flesh is rich raspberry red to purplish pink, exceptionally juicy, and notably meaty, with relatively few visible seeds in many large fruits. The flavor is delicious, balanced, and full-bodied, combining heirloom sweetness with a pleasant level of acidity. Train plants to one or two main stems and provide sturdy stakes, cages, or trellising to support the heavy fruit clusters. Maintain even soil moisture while the fruits are expanding and harvest when the color has fully developed and the fruit yields slightly to gentle pressure. Excellent for thick fresh slices, sandwiches, salads, tomato plates, juice, sauces, and gourmet heirloom presentations.
